As Senior Advisor for Planning and Conservation for Chesapeake Conservancy, BEA, from 2011 to spring of 2014 managed their Envision the James initiative for the James River in Virginia. The goal of the project is to achieve a shared vision and on-going commitments from communities and partners throughout the James River Basin to value, sustain, and enhance the region’s natural and cultural heritage, local economies, wildlife abundance, and outdoor recreation assets for present and future generations. This multi-year conservation initiative is focused on gathering and sharing ideas about the future of the James River corridor and watershed to produce a regionally and locally-endorsed community action agenda that supports the goal. A variety of communications and planning tools are being used to accomplish the goal. BEA was the author of Envision the James: A Vision for the James River Watershed.
